Photograph caption dated December 1, 1960 reads, "Gilbert Mason relaxes as Shirley Andrews shows how light it is." Seen reclining in the plastic-molded aircraft seat he designed is E. Gilbert Mason, president of Teco Inc. in Burbank. The article partially reads, "Mason unveiled the seat, which has been designated the 'Mason Seat,' Wednesday during a special press conference. Prototypes on display were examples of the first 'breakthrough in aircraft seating in 25 years,' he said."
