Description
"Hoch-Safwa[.] 2 Schülerinnen mit Lippenringen." ("Upper Safwa[.] 2 female students with lip rings."). Portrait of the upper body: two young women with necklaces and the lower lip pierced with a large ring.
Cf. photo no. 6677, probably taken on the same occasion. -- Additional information: "Erhalten v. Br. Giersch 1929." ("Received from Br[other] Giersch 1929."). -- Ernst Otto Giersch (1878-1946 [1947]) was a missionary of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine. He served from 1906 to 1908 in Mbozi (together with his wife Anna Magdalena, née Seiler) and returned home because of illness. From 1927 to 1929 he again served in Mbozi.
