Description
The photo caption printed in the Sacramento Bee on June 26, 1970 states: "Pitt River Indians climbed to the top of 10,452-foot Mt. Lassen yesterday to plant their Indian nation's flag, another in a series of acts by them to dramatize their claim to Northern California land they say was taken from them by white men."
