Communique #2, January 27, 1969
Brothers and Sisters,
Communication is essential. Please read the following and keep informed about meetings, work to be done, and the progress of our strike.
1. Maintain picket lines at the following locations, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.: Bancroft and Telegraph, Sproul Steps, Sather Gate, Dwinelle Hall, and other areas to be announced by the monitor chairman.
2. The TWLF Progress Committee--one student and one faculty from each TWLF group--will meet with the Administration at 1:00 p.m. today.
3. It is impossible at this time to ascertain the progress of the strike. Many forces are at work now: political education in the campus and the community; the tightening up of our own forces; communication with t Administration; and probably support from many campus and community groups. All we can say is: the present strike is simply a tactic. If and when we feel with your help that the strike is ineffective, we will organize different tactics. The strike is only part of a prolonged struggle to seize our right of self-determination.
4. The Strike Information Center (day-time) is now 5th Floor Eshleman Hall. Strike news will be posted. See Information people there.
5. Daily strike sum-up after picketing, YWCA, Bancroft and Bowditch. Evaluation, progress, and opinions at this time. See your monitor.
6. You can hep on the following TWLF committees:
1) Communications
2) Monitors
3) Community Liaison
4) Fund Raising
5) Legal Defense
6) Speakers' Bureau
7) Faculty, Administration, and Employees
8) White Relations and Strike Support
Contact--Information people on 5th Floor Eschleman.
7. Convocation today: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Pauley Ballroom. For uninformed people.
8. AFT 1570 meeting tonight to discuss strike support. Our TWLF reps will be there.
9. To strengthen our spirit we welcome refreshments on the lines.
REMEMBER--
BE UNITED, ALERT, EARNEST AND LIVELY.
