Photograph caption dated April 27, 1957 reads "Park workmen are aided in clearing brush from recreation areas by machine called 'chipper; which is real chipper in turning limbs and undergrowth into pieces no bigger than poker chips. Chips are taken to Griffith Park where they are used to make compost.
