Description
The staff of Reich and Lievre Women's Furnishings and their participation in the Days of '49 celebrations was captured in this May 1922 photograph. The store had just stepped into its new 808 K Street location in September of 1921. The six-floor structure, previously known as the Cowan building, was refit with elegant lighting, drapery, floor coverings, and show windows for 65,000 dollars. Once done, the company claimed that it was the largest store of its kind in the United States outside of New York City.
