Photograph caption dated August 26, 1959 reads, "Civil Air Patrol cadets, teen-age volunteer aviation group, receive many hours of education in different areas of aviation and ground observing for civilians. Squadron 3 CAP cadets, North Hollywood, who have their home base at Lockheed Air Terminal, receive instruction in Phase I of the program in the classroom where they learn military protocol, and receive a complete course in rockets and missiles, aircraft, weather and navigation, and other mechanics of aviation. Open to teen-agers between 13 and 19, they meet once a week for 2 1/2 hours under Capt. Richard K. Frampton, unit commander. Above, Capt. Frampton questions cadets in the classroom. On the airfield cadets study field and locations of planes for future ground work. They are Kathy Curtis, 17, master sergeant; Dennis Brookings, 19, 2nd lieutenant; Jack Christy, 16, tech. sergeant; Mel Lange, 18, master sergeant, and Mary Russell, 14, cadet."; See image #00111225 for additional photo in this series.
