Title
Redwood characteristics. This view was taken from the north end of the bridge over the mouth of the south fork of Eel River, looking south to the Dyerville Flat. It was taken to record the character of the tops of certain trees to be investigated later. The very high tree, third from the right, has a top very similar to that of a young second growth tree, yet this tree is probably 300 feet high and is 9 feet in diameter at breast height. The trunk is very symmetrical, although a fire of not more than 10 years ago badly scarred one side. The high rough top tree to the left is 11 feet in diameter at the butt. 3-20-29, E.F
