While ministers and laymen in Protestant faiths can get together over a cup of coffee, the Rev. James Brethren, pastor of Trinity Evangelical United Brethren Church of Pacoima, notes that the time has not arrived yet when they can stand on their feet united as one Christian body. 'The idea of a merger hasn't caught fire among all the Christian denominations,' he said. 'There's still a lot of preliminary work to be done. Most churches feel their more immediate area of labor is merging within their own family groups.'" Rev. James E. Brecheisen (pictured) discusses ecumenism.
