Photograph caption dated December 2, 1949 reads, "Merle Travis, 38-year-old radio musician charged with suspicion of drunkenness, was free on $20 bail today after pleading not guilty. He will be tried Dec. 15 in Valley Municipal Court. Travis is shown wearing the pajama coat he had on when police arrested him."
