Title supplied by cataloger. Photograph caption dated November 30, 1959 reads, "Dentist Defies City -- Dr. Louis J. Friedman, Sherman Oaks dentist, paints his own crosswalk across Ventura boulevard after city turned down petition for crosswalk for two years."; Dr. Louis J. Friedman had submitted 2 petitions within 2 years for a crosswalk across Murietta Ave. and Ventura Blvd. citing that no crosswalk was hurting the businesses in the area because people could not cross the street. He never received an answer from the city and he took it into his own hands and painted a crosswalk himself.
