Photograph article dated October 18, 1963 partially reads, "The U.S. Forest Service has a new weapon today to use in its battle against forest fires. An 1,100 horsepower turbo-jet helicopter designed to carry men and equipment to isolated fire areas was unveiled Thursday. Sim E. Jarvi, Angeles National Forest supervisor, called the helicopter a "fire engine in the sky." Los Angeles County Fire Chief Keith Klinger praised the Bell 201 B Iroquois as a major advance in fire fighting equipment." This 1,100 horsepower helicopter can carry eight firemen, while older copters could carry only two.
