Photograph caption dated April 14, 1954 reads, "Bombs fell, windows rattled, hot wires sizzled, sirens wailed, dogs barked and cats ran for cover during the dry run of the Civilian Defense Corps in Pacoima. All this occurred as first aiders, ambulance drivers, doctors and incidents were combined to show the preparedness of Pacoima should disaster strike." Photograph caption reads, "Messages via air - Two radio-equipped cars receiving messages on battle front casualties kept messengers busy during two-hour demonstration of Civilian Defense units in Pacoima. Receiving messages are Jack Reid, at right, and Jerry Blevins and Eugene Atkins, left. Drivers of the cars are G. H.
