Description
Photograph of lines of women workers at the Acme Electronics company, showing a man standing in the foreground, ca.1940. In the background, a group of woman sit in a line beside adjoining tables. Similarly, another line of woman can be seen in the foreground extending into the background. All the woman have their backs turned from the camera. The three women in the background on the left sit can be seen examining various pieces of machinery. Metallic, frustum-shaped objects sit beside each of the three women. To the far right of this group, another three women can be seen sitting at a different desk. Cylinders sit on a shelf near clipboards behind this table, while large boxes of complicated equipment sit atop the desk. In the foreground at center, a line of nine women sit at an elongated table in front of a set of equipment. This set consists of a small cylindrical tank, a small darkly-colored box, a large case with a handle on top and several knobs below a circular glass panel on the front. Also, a small wooden panel lies adjacent to each panel. Several raised nails protrude from the surface of the panel, and small rings have been placed over various nails. The panel of the second woman from the left is nearly full of these small, darkly-colored rings. In the foreground to the right, a single man can bee seen adjusting a cluster of wiring on a similar panel.
