Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph caption dated February 7, 1961 reads "Here, kitty, here, kitty. Kitty? - This was the view that met senior animal inspector George Mason when he went out to a kindly couple's car to pick up a 'cat' they had found in the roadway. The cat turned out to be this 60-pound baby mountain lion. Mrs. Sue McCall, 7978 Bellaire Ave., North Hollywood, said she and her husband found the animal on Foothill boulevard in Sunland. They coaxed it into the car and took it to the Valley Animal Shelter, 13131 Sherman Way. Because of the chain around its neck and its reasonably docile manner, the cat probably is a pet, Mason said."
