Description
Hops was a specialty crop grown in rows. However it was found only in a few areas of the Sacramento Valley. “Yuba County claimed the most extensive hop fields in the world with over a thousand acres near Wheatland.’ (McGowan’s History of the Sacramento Valley). In 1905, the total production of hops in Sacramento County was 20,984 bales or 3,986,960 pounds each.
