"On the inside of the issue of the Mentor of July 1, 1920, you give an extract from an eulogy delivered by Henry Ward Beecher on Gernal U.S. Grant, in which it is said '...when a revengeful spirit in the Executive Chair showed itself, and threatened the chief Southern generals, Grant, with a holy indignation, interposed himself, and compelled his superior to relinquish his rash purpose'." -- first line.
