Army Corp. Dale N. McCuistion had been convicted of of black market activities in Turkey, where he had served eight months and would have been required to serve three more years if the $17,500 fine had not been paid.
Photograph caption dated December 9, 1964 reads, "Ransomed GI's Family. Mrs. Gina McCuistion, wife of freed Army Corp. Dale McCuistion, is shown surrounded by their children, from left, Mark, 2; Mike, 5; Margaret, 10; Mary Lou, 9; and Marlene, 8. They are staying at Van Nuys home of Mrs. Margaret Powell, while McCuistion seeks to rejoin Army."
