Missionary, DD Olav Hodne, Norway, (1921-2009). In 1947 Olav Hodne and Brit Hodne were sent by Missionær, dr. theol Olav Hodne, Norge (1921-2009). Olav Hodne blev i 1947, sammen med ægtefælle, Brit Hodne, udsendt af Norsk Santalmisjon til et arbejde som lærer og missionspræst i Assam og Cooch Behar, North Bengal, Indien. Fra 1964 arbejdede Olav Hodne med retablering af flygtninge i Cooch Behar, og fra 1972 blev han leder af LWFs flygtningearbejde i Bangladesh og Indien. For denne indsats fik Olav Hodne tildelt den norske Nansen-medalje i 1976. Fra 1975-83 fortsatte Dr. Hodne som direktør i LWS, for med base i Calcutta, at lede nødhjælps-og udviklingsarbejdet i hele det østlige Indien. I 1987 blev Dr. Olav Hodne for sin mangeårige tjeneste udnævnt til Kommandør af St. Olavs Orden. (Foto 1982)

Missionary, DD Olav Hodne, Norway, (1921-2009). In 1947 Olav Hodne and Brit Hodne were sent by Norwegian Santal Mission as teacher and missionary pastor to Assam and Cooch Behar, North Bengal, India. From 1964 Olav Hodne was involved in resettlement of refugees in the Cooch Behar area. And from 1972 he became leader of the LWF refugee work in Bangladesh and India. For this effort he was offered the Norwegian "Nansen- Medal" in 1976. From 1975-83, Dr. Hodne continued as director of the Lutheran World Service/LWS, and based in Calcutta, with responsibility for the relief- and development work all over the Eastern India. Again in 1987, Dr. Olav Hodne was awarded for his many years of service, and became Commander of the Order of St. Olav. (Photo 1982).
