Description
Manil Suri discusses his novel, “The Age of Shiva.” He begins by explaining that he wrote this book from the point-of-view of a 17 year old girl who seduces her older sister’s boyfriend. The girl goes from living in a very liberal household to a conservative one, but she enjoys the structure and rules. He describes that the girl is always in the shadow of her older sister, but now gets a chance to experience freedom. Suri discusses how he got inspiration from family stories and tales of refugees. He ends the interview by describing the relationship between Muslims and Hindus in India.
