Photograph caption dated September 3, 1962 reads "Dedication of the $536,500 Newbury Park Interchange Thursday was another step in streamlining the Ventura Freeway west of the Valley. Named the Borchard Road interchange, after the family of Casper Borchard Sr., pioneer Newbury Park settlers, the project is one in a series designed to eliminate intersections at grades along the freeway's route.
