Hoffa testifying on July 9, 1963 in the federal trial of Nate Stein, accused of subordination of perjury, intimidating a witness, obstructing the McClellan labor rackets committee and failing to file a federal income tax return. The indictment claims that in 1958 Stein induced Joel Benton to give the McClellan committee a false affidavit to explain why he had received four Teamsters Union check totaling $4,400. Hoffa was subpoenaed as a witness to be questioned about the affidavit.
