Description
Photo of Master Chef, Roy Yamaguchi, at the grand opening of Roy's Restaurant, a "Hawaiian Fusion" cuisine eatery located at 800 S. Figueroa, on 8th and Figueroa in Downtown. Born in Tokyo, Chef Yamaguchi graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in New York at the age of 19. In 1984 he opened his first restaurant in Los Angeles called "385 North". Yamaguchi moved to Hawaii in 1988 and open Roy's; there are now 33 Roy's, including 25 in the Continental US, 6 in Hawaii, 2 in Japan and 1 in Guam. Photo dated: October 24, 2005.
