Description
A woman wearing an evening dress from 1829. The dress is white and short-sleeved. The bodice is gathered at the center front with a small yellow ribbon. The waistline is defined by a wide yellow ribbon. The collar is wide and adorned with a garland of yellow leaves, resembling olive branches. Two thirds of the way down her dress the yellow leaf garland is repeated and encircles the skirt. Underneath the row of yellow leaves, the lower portion of her dress becomes very voluminous. She wears red shoes, that resemble ballerina slippers, and loose white gloves. She wears a large, voluminous yellow and pink head piece that has a sheer, yellow, veil covering the hat and draping down her back and over her left shoulder. She rests her right hand on a table next to her. A fringed magenta shawl rests on the table. She holds a fan in her left hand, which she touches to her mouth as she gazes to the right.
