Description
In 1798 Pablo Soler, surgeon of the Monterey presidio, instructed the California missionaries to practice the inoculation of poxes among the Indians of all ages to avoid the devastation of the population that had taken place in Antigua California. In this manuscript Soler specifically describes the inoculation procedure.
