Photograph caption dated January 7, 1957 reads, "Workmen are shown setting forms and doing other work preparatory to filling steel-grating road surface of this Colfax avenue bridge with concrete to forever silence 'music' made when autos drive over it. Nearby Studio City residents complained noise kept them awake, and Republic Studios also protested. Quieting project will cost city $8,850."
