Description
This view of an Armistice Day parade in the 1930s was taken from a slightly elevated vantage point. It shows a youthful appearing marching band moving along I at Ninth Street. A very large crowd is assembled to view the parade near Plaza Park, which was later renamed Cesar Chavez Plaza. Men and women in street clothes join the marching men dressed white shirts and dark bow ties as spectators bundled up in coats and jackets line both sides of I Street. Automobiles are parked on the street and in the park, and a group of uniformed musicians take a break from performing, their instruments held at the ready.
