Description
Plates in: Mare Island photograph album, pg. [7]. 1991-1153. Shows ship at anchor, Vallejo in background. Also have negative: no. 23,822. Launched in 1861 from Portsmouth Navy Yard, N.H., commissioned 1862. Fought in Civil War, in 1868 served in South Pacific; in 1870 decommissioned at Mare Island; recommissioned in 1873 serving in Asiatic station (Japan); wrecked on Roncador Reef off Central America in 1894.
