Description
Three well kempt buildings are shown in this 1960s view of Second Street. The only sign visible is on the Benny Barrios Gallery at 1122 Second Street. Benny Barrios is a pioneering Chicano artist, the first Latino to exhibit at the Crocker Art Museum, and a major influence on Sacramento's Chicano art scene. 1124 Second Street was the home of the Viducich family. Samuel Viducich arrived in the United States from Yugoslavia and worked for eleven years to earn his citizenship and send for his wife Santa and daughter Mary from their village of Dragove (in modern Croatia).
