Description
Captured sometime in mid 1970s from the vantage point of Seventh Street, between I and J Streets, is the Security National Bank at 631 J Street and the Crocker Citizens National Bank at 700 J Street. In the middle of the frame, with its red brick exterior, is the J.C. Penney Company department store at 630 K Street. The yellow and red sign above the sidewalk marks the entrance to The Chambers Room, long-time watering hole and neighborhood tavern for downtown Sacramento. The Sacramento Chamber of Commerce headquarters for many years lies just before the yellow and red sign above the sidewalk marking the entrance to the conveniently-named Chambers Room, long-time watering hole and neighborhood tavern for downtown Sacramento. One of the few relatively unchanged alleys remaining in downtown Sacramento at original street level runs a short length from Seventh to Eigth Streets.
