Description
Two silverplate serving ladles, tied together with a tag that reads, "Elizabeth Schallenberger Townsend came over in covered wagon (1844)." Presumed to have been owned by Elizabeth Schallenberger Townsend. a) Silverplate soup ladle with manufacture mark "Reed & Barton" on handle, "Pat. Dec. 1869" (?). Features Roman Medallion, which was manufactured by the company beginning in 1868. b) Silverplate soup ladle with manufacture mark "Patent 1880 Gorham" on handle and a stamp that resembles an anchor, appears to match the Gorham date mark for 1887.
