Way (E. Leong) Papers
Selected material from the Edward (Eddie or E.) Leong Way papers. Way studied pharmaceutical chemistry and earned a PhD from the UCSF School of Pharmacy in 1942. Much of his career centered on the development of physical dependence and tolerance of opiates. His work has aided in creating a deeper understanding of the complexities of addiction. Way worked as a professor at UCSF for many years before retiring in 1987. Call number: MSS 2009-01.

The archive of Wayne Thom, a renowned architectural photographer who shot only with natural light, worked without assistant and meticulously printed his own images," came to the University of Southern California Libraries in September 2015. "Thom’s stunning photographs of landmark buildings throughout the American West and Asia... include many buildings on the USC campus, including images of von KleinSmid Center, the 1968 USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism building, Heritage Hall, Varian Hall and others." The documentary is directed and produced by Carla Wilson, in association with the University of California, Irvine's Advisory Council on Campus Climate, Culture, and Inclusion. "Ways of Being: The Black Experience on the UC Irvine Campus" documentary focuses on institutional and cultural shortcomings at UC Irvine impacting Black students spanning from the 1990s through 2014.

We Chinese in America Magazine Collection
Founded in 2001, We Chinese is a monthly Chinese-language magazine published in San Diego, featuring news concerning Chinese Americans in Southern California and the San Diego area. The magazine highlights prominent figures of the community and provides information about local commerce and services. The magazine has been documenting the vibrant life of the Chinese-American community in San Diego and serving as a vital information hub for the community. The magazine began publishing digitally in 2013. Sally WongAvery generously donated the funding needed to digitize the 144 print issues which circulated between 2001 and 2012.

The Wei Min She (為民社) and Asian Community Center photographs collection consists of negatives and digital photographs which were primarily taken by Steve Louie. Wei Min She (WMS), meaning "Serve the People Organization," was one of several Asian American Marxist anti-imperialist organizations which developed in San Francisco in the 1970s. WMS engaged in various labor, anti-imperialist, anti-war, and anti-capitalist campaigns and were one of the organizations, along with groups such as I Wor Kuen (IWK) and Katipunan Ng Mga Demokratikong Pilipino (KDP), who played key roles in the struggle to halt the eviction of the International Hotel. The Werner von Boltenstern Shanghai Photograph and Negative Collection offers a photographic record of life in Shanghai, China, in the war-torn years from 1937 through 1949. Every-day life in the city is captured in photographs of bustling streets, school children playing, and family portraits. The greatest importance of the collection rests in its remarkable photographic documentation of the Jewish community of Shanghai, consisting mostly of Jewish refugees fleeing the Holocaust. Examples of subjects of these photographs and negatives include businesses, cultural life, living quarters, and government documents.
