Description
In the wake of the October 17, 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake, Caltrans commissioned an oral history project to document the personal and professional experiences of Caltrans employees who worked to restore the State's damaged transportation system. Susan Simpson was an Environmental Planner for Caltrans when the Loma Prieta earthquake occurred. Susan wasn't involved with emergency efforts however, she gives a personal recollection of the devastation caused by the earthquake in San Francisco including to her apartment and at the Oak Street office.
