Sandberg Lodge, originally Sandberg's Summit Hotel, was located on the Ridge Route highway in the Sierra Pelona Mountains. Built in 1914 by Harald Sandberg, the lodge was sold several times. Walter "Lucky" Stevens, a part time actor, purchased the property in 1951, with plans to restore and reopen the lodge. The lodge was destroyed by fire in 1961. Photograph caption dated May 8, 1957 reads "Lucky Stevens with his Dalmatian dogs, his constant companions, is shown standing in front of fireplace in guest room of old Sandberg Lodge he plans to reopen at outset of deer season."; See images #00136232 and #00046769 for all photos in this series.
