In 2006, the former yard became the El Rio de Los Angeles State Park. Over 30 stranded troop sleepers of a long troop train stand silently along San Fernando Road in Southern Pacific's Taylor Yard in Los Angeles on May 24, 1946, during a railroad strike. Hundreds of poorly-riding box cars were pressed into troop movement during World War II and the Korean War.
