On the left, the caption indicates that at "At 40,000 feet atomic clouds drift eastward," and on the right, the caption indicates "Winds at 20,000 feet pushing atomic clouds toward Calif." Photograph caption dated March 7, 1955 reads, Lower part to drift over California late today. Photo was taken from Herald-Express plane about 35 minutes after explosion from distance of 60 miles."
