Description
Photograph was edited for publication purposes
Photograph article dated January 8, 1963 partially reads, "Evidence for and against an extension of gravel mining in the Tujunga Wash was being considered today by a Los Angeles Planning Commission examiner. Both sides slugged it out verbally Monday over issues of health, home values, conservation, flood hazards and economics before a standing-room-only crowd of 300... The issue is over an application to extend the gravel mining zone in the wash to allow Livingston Rock and Gravel Co. to mine another 162 acres... Livingston president Merrill Nash said hopes of retaining the land as a city wilderness park are groundless because the city has more park land than money now."; See image #00135326 for additional photo in this series.
