Nider, 36, ex-paratrooper, shot and killed himself in his automobile as sheriff's deputies sought him for the mysterious strangulation murder of his pretty sweetheart, Mrs. Celia S. Zdon, 29, allegedly a result from a furious lover's quarrel. Photograph caption dated November 12, 1947 reads, "Mrs. Celia S. Zdon, 29-year-old red-haired divorcee, was found mysteriously strangled in her home at 1119 South McDonnell avenue. Police later found her asserted sweetheart shot dead in orange grove, say he committed suicide."
