Description
"Bruder Bourquin mit seinen ersten Täuflingen" (''Brother Bourquin with his first baptizands"). Seven people are sitting and standing in front of a house entry. Brother Bourquin is standing in the back, wearing a suit, a light-coloured hat and a beard. In front of him, three men are standing in one line. The two men (on the left and right side) are wearing hats, and dark clothes. On the right, the man is wearing a dark coat. Between them, the man is wearing a light-coloured clothing, a blanket around his right shoulder and arms. In the first row, on the left, one man is standing, wearing a cap, a costume and a jacket, putting his hands in the pockets. Two younglings are sitting next to him on the doorstep. They are wearing caps, light-coloured shirts, jackets and trousers.
Bourquin, Walther (1879-1974) served as a missionary in South Africa East from 1908 to 1949. In 1908 he married Martha Wüstemann in Berlin. On the second of June, 1908, he arrived in Silo. On the 12th of May he was appointed to praeses of the mission province in South Africa East. In 1934 he went to Europe for holiday. He was retired in 1949 and died in Durban on the 27th of April in 1974.
