Description
This photo shows a large mural by Rip Cronk, titled "Venice on the Halfshell"; it is the artists' reinterpretation of Boticelli's "Venus on the Halfshell". The mural, located at 25 Windward Ave. at Speedway in Venice Beach, was painted in 1989 and measures 100' x 21'; the media used was liquitex acrylic/air brush. It shows crowds of pedestrians, shoppers, and roller bladders; two bicycle police; a man playing the guitar on roller blades; a blond woman wearing a tank top, shorts, and roller skates; an angel; a few buildings; and several miscellaneous flying objects, all along Ocean Front Walk. The words "History is Myth" appears in a thought bubble next to the blond roller skater. Artists Juan Burgueno, Mishell Caldwell, Dimitree Kadley, Bruce Smith, and Elizabeth Tenchavez assisted Cronk.
