William S. Tevis' residence, Los Portales, Stockdale. Was Vice President of Kern County Land Company. Pacific Garden article (Aug. 1908, pg. 10-12), "Bamboos in California," mentions the Tevis estate near Bakersfield as the only place author (Dr. F. Francheschi) had seen this species of bamboo.
