Description
Pictured in 1935 is the George W. Manhart American Legion junior baseball team. In August of the same year, the squad captured the western states region championship by defeating the Tucscon, Arizona, based Morgan-McDermott post by a score of 3 to 2 at the Oak Park diamond. Other opponents en route to the title came from Reno and Salt Lake City. The star of the game, hitting a walk-off home run in the ninth-inning was Jim "Tiny" Hansen, pictured in the bottom row, fourth from the right. The post's official representative, Scott "Scotty" Ferem, stands in the second row, fifth from the right.
