First photograph caption dated May 10, 1956 reads, "Canoga Park High's Dave Davis, one of the best prep shotputters in the nation, will be gunning for a new world mark in tomorrow's all-Valley League track and field finals at Birmingham High. Davis is a cinch to set a new league mark now held by USC's Ray Martin at 57 ft., 1/2 in. Canoga Park is a slight favorite to win the all-league mix."
