This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco."
View of four men at the front desk of the new Palace Hotel. Mr. Brownell is at left, Obadiah Rich second from left, the next man is unidentified and W.C. Ralston is at right signing the hotel register. Text written under photo: "W.C. Ralston, son of the builder and owner of the first Palace Hotel, signing the register of the second hotel. The first one having been destroyed in the Fire of 1906 Obidah [sic] Rich Manager, looking on Mr. Brownell, Clerk on the left."
