Photograph caption dated July 9, 1954 reads "Orlie Schmidt, coach for the South team in the Shrine-Hi football game at the Coliseum, July 21, gets a helping hand in his packing from son Greg and wife Evelyn as he prepares to leave his San Fernando home for two weeks while preparing his team for combat in a camp at Whittier. Schmidt's San Fernando Tigers were city champions last year, qualifying him as coach of the South team in the annual Shrine classic"
