Description
This circa 1975 photograph - taken at the northeast corner of Eighth and K Streets looking northwest - shows pedestrians passing by various businesses along a K Street Mall, just six years after its revamping. Businesses include American Savings and Loans at 731 K Street, Daniel's Jewelers at 725 K Street, and Harvey's Downtown Restaurant at 723 K Street. Harvey's was started by Colorado native Harvey "Buzz" Rosenblum in 1952 with the sale of his 19 cent hamburgers. When Rosenblum passed away in October 1970, we was the owner of four metropolitan drive-ins, including others on 1211 Broadway and the Hamburger Factory on Fulton Avenue. Looming in the background is the Ochsner Building at 717 K Street.
