Description
In the wake of the October 17, 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake, Caltrans commissioned an oral history project to document the personal and professional experiences of Caltrans employees who worked to restore the State's damaged transportation system. This recording is the oral history of Leo Gee who at the time of the Loma Prieta Earthquake was an Assistant Transportation Engineer with Caltrans. He worked at the California Street District 4 office in San Francisco. He was in his office when the earthquake struck. After the earthquake he was assigned to work on replacing the concrete medians on Highway 17. Due to his efforts the State was able to recover from this disaster.
