Description
Two women are depicted in a parlor. The woman on the left sits next to a table with a blue cloth, upon which is a small vase holding a flower. She has an open book on her lap, and appears to nbe writing in it. She is wearing a lace cap with leaves and pink flowers. Her dress is white with pink vertical stripes and black dots. The dress is trimmed with five narrow black stripes around the shoulders, cuffs, and the hems of both tiers of the skirt. The neck is off the shoulder and the sleeves are three-quarter length. She wears a bracelet and black lace mitts. A second woman stands on the right wearing a green and white ruched bonnet with a ruffle at the hem. Her dress has gray and pink horizontal stripes, with long sleeves and a high neck with a white lace collar, and a rectangular brooch. A row of buttons or toggles lines the front of the bodice and skirt.
