Photograph caption date stamped February 29, 1964 reads, "Six-year-old Gretchen Ross (left) of the Westlake Athletic Club in Chatsworth proudly holds the first-place medal she won in the 20-yard free-style at the 8th Annnal [sic] AAU Meet, held in Alameda, Calif., recently. The other girls are from Alameda. The Westlake club [sic], coached by Niels Madsen, has 75 swimmers entered in the AAU age-group swimming program."
