Robert E. Petersen was the founder and president of the Petersen Publishing Company who published such automotive-themed titles as Hot Rod, Motor Trend and Car Craft as well as titles including Tiger Beat, Teen, and Guns & Ammo.
Photograph article dated September 20, 1956 partially reads, "Robert E. Petersen, president of the Petersen Publishing Company of Los Angeles, has been selected as the recipient of the first annual Distinguished Service Award to be given by the California Safety Council, it was announced today."
